On this Serbia 4 day private tour, you’ll feel the wind along Golubac’s fortress walls as the Danube tightens into the Iron Gate Gorge, step into Manasija’s fortified monastery where medieval rulers once negotiated survival, and taste Šumadija wines while hearing how estates rebuilt themselves after socialism. By the time you reach Zemun’s riverside at dusk, Serbia no longer feels like a short visit — it feels unexpectedly whole.
If you prefer a fuller week to explore more regions at a relaxed pace, consider our 7-day or 10-day private Serbia journeys.
Roman sites, medieval monasteries, and modern history are connected in a way that helps Serbia’s past make sense, even within four days.
From Tito’s House of Flowers to St. Sava Church and Zemun’s Austro-Hungarian streets, the capital is presented as layered memory. You leave with a framework, not fragments.
At Ravanica and Manasija, you learn how literacy, diplomacy, and identity survived during Ottoman expansion. These stops clarify how medieval choices still influence modern narratives.
At Aleksandrović Winery, discussion often turns to land ownership, socialism, and private revival. The vineyard is a lens into how Serbia transitioned — and what that meant for families.

After meeting #YourSerbiaHost at the airport, station, or agreed location, the journey begins toward eastern Serbia and the Danube. The first stop is Golubac Fortress, positioned where the river narrows into the Iron Gate Gorge. Walking its towers helps explain the strategic importance of the Danube corridor.
The route continues to Lepenski Vir, a prehistoric settlement dating back to 8000 BC, offering a rare glimpse into early life along the river. Lunch is served at an eco-village run by a local family, directly on the Danube, where traditional dishes are paired with the calm rhythm of the water.
In the afternoon, you’ll stop at viewpoints above Mali and Veliki Kazan, overlooking the gorge and the rock-carved figure of King Decebalus across the river. The day ends at Bor Lake, with time to relax or walk by the shore.
Private boat ride through the most attractive part of the Iron Gate Gorge, including views of Decebalus’ sculpture and the Tabula Traiana from the river.
Upgrade to luxurious Hotel Ramonda 4★ at the foot of Rtanj Mountain.
After breakfast, the day begins at Felix Romuliana, a UNESCO-listed Roman palace built by Emperor Galerius in the 4th century. From there, the route leads to Ravanica Monastery, an important symbol of medieval Serbia and national identity.
Lunch is planned near the Veliki Buk waterfall, where a small riverside restaurant serves local specialties surrounded by forested landscapes. A short stop allows time to enjoy the spring water and scenery.
In the afternoon, you’ll visit Manasija Monastery, learning about Despot Stefan Lazarević and Serbia’s medieval statehood. The day concludes in Šumadija, where you stay at a winery guesthouse known for its hospitality, wine tradition, and locally sourced cuisine.
Fine Dinning at the Aleksandrović winery.
he morning starts with a traditional Šumadija breakfast overlooking vineyards. In Topola, you’ll explore the roots of modern Serbian statehood and visit the Oplenac Mausoleum, renowned for its vast mosaic interiors.
Wine exploration starts at the historic King’s Winery and continues in Aleksandrović Winery, where the focus shifts from royal legacy to contemporary revival. Lunch is hosted at a small winery, where the owner personally introduces the wines and food pairings, offering insight into Serbia’s contemporary wine scene.
In the afternoon, you travel to Belgrade. After check-in at your centrally located hotel, the evening is free for rest or independent exploration.
The final day is dedicated to Belgrade. You’ll begin at Belgrade Fortress, where the confluence of the Sava and Danube sets the stage for understanding the city’s role through centuries. The route continues to Dedinje and the House of Flowers, Tito’s final resting place, providing context for Yugoslavia’s 20th-century legacy.
From there, you’ll visit the Saint Sava Church, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the Balkans. Lunch is taken at a nearby restaurant known for modern interpretations of Serbian cuisine.
The afternoon shifts pace in Zemun, once a separate town, where a walk along the Danube promenade or up to Gardoš Hill offers a relaxed, local perspective before departure transfer.

What a terrific tour! We booked a tour to go to a non-tourist town about an hour out of Belgrade where our father was born. Our guide, Andrew, was knowledgeable, and had gone out of his way to research the area and all that was of interest to see. We took away so much from this tour – he covered all the basics and so much more! We went at our own pace and kept an interesting and informative conversation going throughout the tour. At the end we managed to even see highlights of Belgrade. We cannot recommend Andrew and Serbian Private tours enough.

Excellent tour, fantastic guide! Excellent experience from the very first inquiry sent, until the final goodbyes after 4 days of exploring the wonderful Serbian countryside: quick to respond, very cordial in meeting our needs, super easy to book through their site. The tour was exceptionally planned, tailored perfectly to our preferences: we combined a 2-day tour to south-east Serbia (based on their “Iron Gate gorge and highlights of East Serbia” tour) with a 2-day tour to the western part (a variation on their “Zlatibor and Sargan Eight Train”). Trying to pick the highlights I find myself laying out the entire itinerary as everything was interesting and well worth visiting… all the restaurants selected were authentic, with warm, welcoming staff, and of course the food was great 😉 But even the greatest plans are not worth much without execution 😀 and in this case, our fantastic guide Andrija made sure we enjoy our tour to the maximum: sharing with us his vast knowledge in ancient and more recent history, explaining about the culture, customs, language… all the while taking superb care of us, making sure we’re safe, comfortable, and enjoying everything this region has to offer. It was an absolute delight to spend these 4 days with Andrija, and get to know a little bit more about this wonderful area – with its beautiful views, fascinating archeological sites, charming people and food that’s just too good (especially with a zip of rakija…).

Myself and my partner recently had the pleasure of spending three days on a tailor made tour with Miljan. The tour itself included the Iron Gates / Highlights of Eastern Serbia / Mokra Gora plus a venture into Bosnia. Miljan is great company – intelligent, witty, knowledgeable and engaging. It was very easy to spend so much time with him – like travelling with a friend. The tour itself was very thoughtfully constructed with many varied experiences. I have no hesitation in recommending Miljan & Serbian Private Tours. I can promise that you will get so much more out of your trip – not to mention the spotless car every morning. Miljan is a great person, trustable. He took me and my friends to many interesting places, as Tara Park, Studenica monasteriuns, winers, restaurants. If I go to Serbia again, for sure will contract his services!
