You’ll move between two of Serbia’s most dramatic natural landscapes: the cliffs and viewpoints of Tara National Park and the meanders of Uvac Canyon. Expect scenic drives, fresh mountain air, wildlife-rich terrain, and some of the country’s most photogenic panoramas.
If you enjoy nature-focused private tours, this is one of Serbia’s strongest day escapes.
Spreading the experience over a day and a half prevents the region from feeling rushed and allows you to absorb the landscape gradually.
Walking through preserved woodland before reaching the panoramic view over Lake Perućac gives context to the scale and protected nature of this region.
Not every guest wants a 3–4 hour hike. The alternative route ensures the same perspective without forcing physical strain.
There is no handover between drivers and local hosts. The same guide connects Tara’s forest story with Uvac’s conservation story, keeping the experience coherent.
Your private guide meets you at your Belgrade accommodation at 8:30. The drive west gradually shifts from urban landscape to forested hills and river valleys. The first stop is a café-restaurant on the Drina River, overlooking the well-known Drina River House – a small structure that reflects the region’s relationship with water and resilience. You continue to the source of the Vrelo River, sometimes called the “Year River” because of its 365-meter length. Lunch is available at a nearby riverside restaurant where traditional dishes are shaped by mountain produce (optional, not included). The afternoon is spent on Tara Mountain. After a scenic forest drive, you take a short, moderate walk through protected woodland to Banjska Stena viewpoint, overlooking Lake Perućac. From here, the scale of the landscape becomes clear. The route then continues across Zlatibor and Zlatar mountains toward Sjenica on the Pešter Plateau, known for its altitude and distinct character.
After breakfast, the journey continues toward Uvac Canyon. The terrain opens into wide limestone curves carved by the river over centuries. At the canyon, you choose between a 3–4 hour round-trip hike from the riverside campsite to Molitva Peak, or a scenic drive directly to the viewpoint. Both options lead to the same observation platform overlooking Uvac’s distinctive meanders.
This area is also home to the Griffon vultures, whose conservation story helps explain how the landscape is actively protected today. After time at the viewpoint, lunch is available at the riverside camp, where local dishes reflect the plateau’s pastoral traditions (not included). In the afternoon, you return to Belgrade, arriving in the evening.
The End of the Tour
It was really a fascinating tour that were full of joy and fun. We saw a stunning panorama view of the park and canyon. The place where we stayed were cozy and comfortable. Dobri was really helpful, knowledgeable and attention to details. All arrangements were well planned. We definitely will visit Serbia again for other places haven’t visited this time. Thank you so much to Dobri and Miljan.
